Great piece, Steve. I love the basketball anecdote. The video is sublime; what a marvelous solo. Louis Bellson told me that Big Sid kept a bottle of catsup in his back pocket. Keep wailing, boss.
Always good to hear from you; thanks too for the "Zan hug." I don't think I ever heard anyone say an unkind thing about Sid as a person. His drumming was something else. A real inspiration. Still working on the back pocket catsup bottle, though.
Great post , love Big Sid who died a year before I was born. Even though I have heard many of his recording many times, I can seldom predict his accents and rim shots so intuitive was he.
Thanks for reaching out with your nice message. I'm glad to know that you enjoyed the piece about Big Sid and I couldn't agree more about the surprising places where he puts accents. Kind regards, Steve Cerra
Great article! Thanks for sharing. Super recording too!
Thanks for reaching out. So glad to know that the article about Big Sid was to your liking. Kind regards,
Steve
I read that article as a young man of 16. It inspired me then, still does these years later.
Thanks for the nice note, Ken. Glad the feature brought back some inspirational memories. Kind regards, Steve
